The MOHJO Rule book contains all the important details of how we run the association, and describes the requirements for the Year End Awards. The Rule book generally follows the governing practices of our national bodies, but since there are some specific divisions and age groups that are not defined by USHJA, it's a good idea to be familiar with the MOHJO rules.
In addition, show managers should use the Rule book as the guide to determining which classes to offer that will provide MOHJO points for the competitors, and name classes accordingly.

New in 2024
We hope all the MOHJO members, and anyone who competes in a MOHJO recognized show, will take the time to read the recently updated MOHJO rulebook. Here are the highlights of the additions and changes you will find:
New divisions recognized: we’ve added the following divisions for recognition with a Year End Award (check the rule book for additional class specifications)
- Puddle Hunter: a hunter division with 18" vertical jumps where a change of direction may be required
The USHJA Tack Trunk Mini Medal is now the USHJA Pony Medal. There will not be a MOHJO year end award for the USHJA Pony Medal, points will be tracked and the High Point pony/rider combination will be recognized by USHJA at the end of the competition year, assuming the rider is a full or outreach member of USHJA.
The Tack Trunk Child/Adult 2’6” medals have been discontinued as of the 2021 show season.
Qualifications for Limit Rider Hunter have been refined to be based on a horse/rider combination. If a rider wins out of the Limit, but subsequently gets a new horse/pony, they can compete in the Limit with the new horse/pony. See Rule Book for complete details.
The rules for Derby classes have been relaxed to allow more to be accumulated for more Derby classes at MOHJO rated shows where the Derby class is not specified as a MOHJO Derby. In addition, shows may split the Derby into sections based on height, as entries warrant. See Rule Book for complete details.
