MOHJO RULE BOOK

Missouri Hunter Jumper Organization

The MOHJO Rule book contains all the important details of how we run the association, and describes the requirements for the Year End Awards. The Rule book generally follows the governing practices of our national bodies, but since there are some specific divisions and age groups that are not defined by USHJA, it's a good idea to be familiar with the MOHJO rules.

In addition, show managers should use the Rule book as the guide to determining which classes to offer that will provide MOHJO points for the competitors, and name classes accordingly.

NEW RULES IN 2026

  • To align with the USHJA Jr/Amateur 2'6" Derby, the 2'6" section of the Hunter Derby has been restricted to Juniors and Amateurs.    MOHJO will recognize an expanded Junior/Amateur Hunter Derby division, with sections at 2'3" and 2'6".  The heights will be tracked separately and pinned separately at Year End as entries warrant.
  • We've added the Pony Derby as a separately recognized division for those competing in the regular Pony Hunter divisions.
  • We've updated the descriptions for all the Derby classes, and added the USHJA guidance on Hunt and Go style Derbies to the list of acceptable Derby formats.
  • Due to lack of participation,  the MOHJO Medal and Novice Rider Hunter divisions, have been eliminated.
  • Qualifications for the year end High Point awards have been clarified, and restricted to competitors showing at 2' and above.
  • We've updated the guidance on class combinations and splits for the show managers, based on the USHJA Zone 7 specifications for the rated classes and added wording to ensure rated and unrated classes are not combined.
